We are Poets
We are Poets
There are many of us who have wanted,
To offer the world a challenge,
But society has not given us
Half of what we have asked for.
The wise men of the past,
Did not seek fame or power,
They only gave free reins,
To romance, love and pleasure.
Love, the simple and the passions,
Were their true devotions.
That's why they won good merits,
And at the same time, awards.
We have been forgotten,
Perhaps even worse, rejected,
But there have been few who have had
This talent in their white hands.
We are "little gods", striving,
With a precious gift bestowed,
And though the world may not appreciate it,
We not only write, but we express ourselves.
We fall in love, we delight,
And with beautiful words we conquer.
To the humble mind we strengthen,
To the pretty girl, we excite
We lift up with words, the downhearted,
With my verses we also exalt.
The great heroes we remember,
For my sonnets are not in vain.
I will rejoice to know,
That I do not write them out of duty,
Only, because it is my passion,
And as a young man my pleasure.
I will devote myself to my brothers,
Who have been forgotten,
But we will always have love,
And art in our hands.
We will always be there, waiting,
That someone will take into account,
Our passion and discovery,
For, in spite of everything,
Yesterday's as well as today's,
We will always be poets,
We will always be brothers.
